As part of Mission Convince Google my Blog Isn't Spam, I deleted my blog roll. Now I want to get it back! I have a few blogs in mind already, but I want to know which blogs you think I should add. In the comments, please tell me about your favorite Israeli blogs. If you have a blog, feel free to tell me (and other readers) about it, too!
Todah raba!
P.S. Israeli moment of the week: the waiter at Shipudei HaTikva (or as my husband and I like to call it, Shish-Kabobs of Hope) turning his back on us and walking away while we were in the middle of placing our order. Hey, he's a professional, and he had more important things to attend to at that moment. He also refused to sell us soup because "it's not winter yet." Discuss.

ReplyDeleteGoogle translate is my friend ! ;)
I have several "aliyah" blogs that I follow. All of them are well-written by people who love Israel and Israelis but can also laugh affectionately about them. They also have great info and are updated reasonably regularly:

Waiter problem discussion:
ReplyDeleteDid you do the wrong thing and stay? If yes, I hope your tip was a very loud "0".
You're blog is my favorite Israel blog!
ReplyDeleteMy blog definately has a strong Israeli flavor nonrecipe.blogspot.com
I read www.amotherinisrael.com and sometimes israelisoldiersmother.blogspot.com. Any other blogs I read it's because I found them from your or Hannah's blog.
BTW, I posted one of my recipes where I use silan. I don't think I would have bought it if you hadn't posted about it.
sfabrications, I found it entertaining more than anything else. He wasn't doing it to be rude, and his service throughout the evening was actually fine-- our table was full of salads and hummus and chips in no time. He was just being Israeli. That's my take, at least. What do the rest of you think?
ReplyDeleteI read Brian Blum's www.thisnormallife.com and Israelity (http://israelity.com). Also, Jerusalem Daily photo always has tons of interesting stuff (http://jerusalemhillsdailyphoto.blogspot.com/). And of course, I love your posts!
ReplyDeleteI have to second some of these:

Found your blog featured on NBN. I like your sense of humor about life here and as an olah. So glad that I now know never to use the word "shek" - my son who has been here in Yeshiva picked it up and I thought maybe it was cool Israeli slang.
ReplyDeleteI will link to you on my blog - In A Good Place: Thoughts About Life in the Holy Land - http://www.bimakomtov.wordpress.com.
All the best.
